Blackhawk Piston Pumps Are the Best Pumps to Use When:

Your Pump Needs to be Placed Horizontally
Anchor Pumps are positive displacement piston pumps. They do not use the vertically positioned float and actuator rod mechanism that controllerless pneumatic pumps depend on to function.

The Conditions Inside the Well Are Extreme

Anchor Pumps keep everything that will need maintenance outside of the well. Anchor Pumps can be installed in wells as small as 2" in diameter. Anchor Pump is ideal for pumping hot, dirty, silty, slimy materials...particularly leachate and landfill gas condensate, and DNAPL's. Is your current pump only still functioning because of frequent cleaning? Stop playing in the muck and keep your pump out of it too.

You Are Pumping from Great Depths
The Pneumatic Anchor Pump can lift liquid from depths exceeding 700 feet whereas competitor's pumps' discharge performances are limited to the inlet air pressure.

Your Electric Submersible Would Overheat
Electric Submersible Pumps traditionally have problems with hot liquid applications since the motor needs to be cooled by the liquid around it, thus it cannot dissipate heat...instead it must be fitted with a shroud and pump at higher velocities to achieve proper motor cooling. These higher velocities are not appropriate for most environmental pumping applications, for instance, methane gas condensate, or steam enhanced pumping applications. With the Electric Anchor Pump the motor is air cooled and is outside of the well, a more hospitable environment for ideal pumping. Low flow rates are easy regardless of the heat down well. When pumping DNAPL's it is better to pump slowly, thus keeping good conductivity of the product in the formation to the well.

Getting the Level Down in the Well Is Really Important
A passive fill pump can become dirty and grimy forcing a great deal of additional required head pressure for the pump to function. Often there will be a lot more liquid in your well than you realize due to the fact that a dirty mechanism cannot work properly. By using raw mechanical motion, Anchor Pumps have no choice but to keep pumping, even under the worst conditions.

When Low Flow Velocity is Important
In certain applications, such as a methane gas well, it is very important to maintain a low flow velocity because at high flow rates you will exhaust the liquid and begin to pull silt in from the structure around the well.
