BLACKHAWK’S NEW LNAPL RECOVERY TIP IS KEY
TO KEEPING COSTS DOWN AND RECOVERY RATES HIGH
At this site, air-lift pumps were used initially in the eleven 4-inch diameter recovery wells. These were able to recover liquid from the 140-foot depth where the free product plume was located. However, these pumps recovered both product and groundwater, which was undesirable. Blackhawk Piston Pumps are the only pumps that could reach the depth, pump the product without disturbing the product (emulsification), and provide controlled drawdown and pump rate.
Each of these pumps uses the NEW Blackhawk LNAPL Recovery Tip Attachment, which is the key to keeping costs down and recovery rates high. This special LNAPL recovery tip, an automated skimming system for free product recovery, is designed to recover only hydrocarbon liquids, not groundwater, from two inch or larger wells. Using the LNAPL tip with the Blackhawk Piston Pumps results in a lower treatment cost because no excess water, which would have to be treated, is extracted with the product.
Constructed of durable low-friction materials and high performance drive pistons, Blackhawk pumps offer numerous advantages over air-lift pumps. They do not corrode, freeze up in cold weather and are easy to troubleshoot.. Because the controls on are top, Blackhawk Piston Pumps can be viewed during operation and visually observed from long distances, saving operator time. In addition, the pumps feature a low profile design, with an above well height that is lower than air-lift pumps, that makes them easy to handle, reach and operate. Pumps utilize quick-connect air fittings with an open design that also allows for easy operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. Blackhawk Piston Pumps offer high flow rates (up to 16 gpm) and pump down to 750’ feet and feature no fugitive gas emissions from pump exhaust. Blackhawk Piston Pumps are available in a choice of pneumatic or electric power source and can be configured for explosion proof environments.
For over 15 years, B lackhawk Environmental Co. has provided field-tested piston-pumping solutions for petrochemical, refinery, manufactured gas plant, environmental, landfill and groundwater remediation applications.
